The
hottest skirts this season are green (and we don’t
necessarily mean their color!)
Bethlehem,
PA- Haze McElhenny, of studio524, has developed a line of
sustainable fashion called Skirting the Issue (www.skirtingtheissue.net).
Haze is an experienced freelance artist, illustrator, designer
and the principal of studio524. Comfortable in developing
design across diverse media, Haze spends most of her time
working in the fashion industry.
Skirting
the Issue is a unique line of sustainable, earth-friendly
fashions designed and meticulously hand-crafted by Haze.
Each creation is a one-of-a-kind original sewn from vintage
tees, hand-painted, and embellished.
“Being
socially conscious at the core, it's always distressing
to me to see how much waste is involved in the manufacturing
process,” says Haze. “It can't be avoided, even
when you're talking about something as apparently simple
as a tee shirt. I wanted to be part of the cure, even if
it is only on the smallest of levels.”
Whether
clients prefer to have their “re-tired tees”
re-fashioned into an exciting new creation or would like
to have a skirt custom-designed to their specifications,
Haze’s clients will be helping to better our global
environment.
studio524
celebrates the beauty of women and happily creates flattering
designs for all shapes and sizes. From juniors to the more
“curv-a-licious” plus sizes, each one-of-a-kind
creation is sewn to fit all measurements and body types.
A portion
of the profits of all retail sales from the Skirting the
Issue website will be donated to the national chapter of
Girls INC. Donations will be made on a quarterly basis and
will amount to at least 10% of the realized profits.
